Adirondack North County Association announces the first recipient of the Small Farm SOIL loan, a new revolving loan fund made in partnership with Foodshed Capital.

New Roots Community farm is acknowledged for its economically unique agricultural model and Foodshed Capital receives recognition for its commitment to lending to socially disadvantaged farmers.

The Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) has launched a new program, in partnership with Foodshed Capital, to help farmers and food entrepreneurs who have difficulty accessing financing through conventional lenders.

Foodshed Capital is among 12 CDFI’s in Virginia receiving funding through the Virginia Small Business Resiliency Fund. Foodshed Capital’s grant of $555,000 will be put toward expanding its microlending and small business lending for farms and food businesses throughout the commonwealth.

Foodshed Capital executive director Michael Reilly served on the panel, contributing his perspective on the role agriculture plays on contributing to climate change and how it can help support a just transition.
