Reber Rock Farm

Date Funded: May, 2023

Reber Rock Farm is a 120-acre family farm in Essex, New York, producing the only pastured, Certified Organic poultry and pork within 150 miles of its location, as well as 100% grass-fed beef and maple syrup. Since its launch in 2013, the farm has expanded significantly, now raising 8,500 broilers and 83 pigs annually on 400 acres. Reber Rock Farm remains deeply committed to regenerative agriculture, food justice, and community connection. They deliver pasture-raised meats directly to customers nationwide, collaborate with regional producers to strengthen the rural food economy, and support equitable access to healthy food through programs like Fair Food Pricing, donations to WIC and local food pantries, and work toward SNAP certification. The farm also hosts RANWI, a somatic coaching and wellness program that invites participants to reconnect with land, food, and self.

Foodshed Capital has supported Reber Rock Farm with financing on two occasions. In partnership with Adirondack North Country Association, we provided a 0% interest loan that enabled the farm to purchase a larger walk-in freezer and nearly double poultry production, supporting their growing livestock operation. A second low-interest loan helped bridge reimbursable costs for a conservation cost-share contract through the Essex County Soil & Water Conservation District. These funds directly supported a new compost program, improving soil health, closing nutrient loops, and deepening the farm’s regenerative impact while increasing revenue.
