Who we serve

Deep Dive Farm

Deep Dive Farm is a one-acre, no-till, diversified vegetable and flower operation located on the east end of Long Island, envisioned as a farming cooperative with veggies, herbs, flowers, and oysters. Owner Allie Gressler used a 0% interest loan from Foodshed Capital to purchase field and market supplies.

Flying Plow Farm

Flying Plow Farm is a 56-acre certified organic farm and regional food hub in Maryland, serving 600 weekly CSA subscribers and low-interest households with the support of their 19-person team. Flying Plow used a low-interest loan from Foodshed Capital to drill a new well and increase seasonal cashflow.

Woolbank

Woolbank launched as an urban farm and greening program, and expanded into a regenerative farm and agroforestry training program for BIPOC youth in the Lake Erie basin. Owner Jasmine Thomas used a low-interest bridge loan from Foodshed Capital to support program expansion ahead of grant reimbursement.

Waddle Om

Waddle Om Farm is a holistic livestock and herb farm Scottsville, VA run by Daniel and Shankari Goldstein, specializing in grass-finished lamb, teas, and value-added products. They used a 0% interest bridge loan to install a new well, fencing, and waterers ahead of grant reimbursement.

Spice Creek Farm

Gail Taylor and D'Real Graham, formerly of DC urban farm Three Part Harmony, found their forever home at Spice Creek Farm in Maryland. They used a 0% interest loan to launch a small-scale poultry operation, and receive free bookkeeping services as part of our pilot Bookkeeping Fellowship.

Blackbird Farms

Blackbird Farms is a certified Organic produce and fruit operation serving CSA, farmers market, and wholesale customers in northeast Pennsylvania. Owner and Rodale graduate, Kegan Hilaire, used a low-interest bridge loan to map out business expansion through a Farm Vitality planning grant.

Why
small?

Over 90% of U.S. farms operate on a small scale, but the system wasn’t built for them. Without ready access to land, labor, insurance, or business guidance, they often struggle to stay profitable — and to stay resilient when crises hit. Meanwhile, big ag gets the spotlight and subsidies, but it doesn’t grow the food we actually eat, and most operators will age out in the next five years.

If we want thriving local economies, food-secure communities, and healthy soils, we need to back the small growers who feed us and care for the land. It’s our mission at Foodshed Capital to make it easier for these farmers to access affordable capital and informed business advice so they can keep their doors open for the long-haul.

Small farms, big potential.
