Southern Sunny Acres
Winona, TX
Low-interest bridge loan funded June 2025
Southern Sunny Acres is a veteran-owned pastured poultry farm located in East Texas and grounded in the principles of regenerative agriculture and humane animal management. Operating on 20 acres, the farm embraces a holistic philosophy, recognizing the interconnectedness of soil, animals, air, and community as essential components of a thriving ecosystem. Through regenerative grazing practices, Southern Sunny Acres enhances soil health, fosters nutrient-rich forage, and raises livestock that are processed into high-quality, ethically sourced proteins. This intentional cycle of stewardship not only supports the land but also strengthens the farm’s ability to nourish its surrounding community with integrity.
Over the past five years, Southern Sunny Acres has expanded its infrastructure and built a loyal customer base, all while proudly operating as a veteran-owned enterprise committed to service and resilience. The farm dedicates itself to mentoring emerging farmers and regularly hosts educational workshops for new producers, school groups, and homeschool communities, encouraging a deeper understanding of sustainable food systems.
Southern Sunny Acres was awarded a Texas Department of Agriculture Regional Food Systems Infrastructure grant in April of 2025; the grant will support them in the installation of a walk-in cold storage unit and industrial pallet jack. This critical investment will allow the farm to double its production capacity and provide shared cold storage to other beginning farmers. A low-interest bridge loan from Foodshed Capital allowed them to cash flow these purchases prior to reimbursement.
