Jones Garden
Staunton, VA
0% interest loan funded March 2022
Since 2020, Jones Gardens has been transforming an underused plot of land in Staunton, VA—creating a beautiful, bountiful gathering space that nourishes neighbors and fosters food system autonomy. Owner Naomi Jones believes fresh food is for everyone, and aims to tackle food insecurity by reducing barriers to fresh produce and increasing opportunities for education and recreation. Her zero-interest loan from Foodshed Capital—made possible in part with funding through the Virginia Small Business Resiliency Fund—will help her hire a part-time employee to staff the Jones Gardens' neighborhood market, where they'll offer produce at roughly 20% less than supermarket prices. We're excited to see her progress as Jones Gardens expands to vacant lots throughout the Shenandoah Valley.
