Kristen Suokko



Kristen is a founding board member of Foodshed Capital, serving since June 2019 and serves on our Loan Review Committee, where she advises on loan applications above $50,000. She is the Executive Director of Local Food Hub in Charlottesville. She served as Chairwoman of the organization's Board of Directors in 2012, and in 2013 became Executive Director. Kristen maintains a wealth of experience in environmental philanthropy and nonprofit excellence, as well as environmental planning and sustainability.

She began her career in Washington, D.C., working for the Natural Resources Defense Council and the U.S. Department of Energy. Kristen has lived in Charlottesville for over 15 years and previously held positions with the W. Alton Jones Foundation and the Blue Moon Fund. Kristen received a degree in Russian from Middlebury College and is from New England. She lives in Charlottesville with her husband and two daughters.
