Finca El Conuco is a diversified tropical produce and poultry farm owned by Abdel Arroyo. Referred to us through a partnership with Monte Azul Foundation, we supported Finca El Conuco in their mission to increase Puerto Rican food sovereignty, reduce reliance on imports, and improve the local food economy.

The farm uses sustainable, ethical, agroecological practices to raise their produce and poultry, even teaming up with a neighboring cattle farmer to graze areas of their farm naturally.

A 0% interest micro-loan from Foodshed Capital allowed Finca El Conuco to upgrade their poultry watering system and make improvements to the pen while helping cash flow operations ahead of seasonal revenue.

This loan followed a May 2025 visit by FoodCap staff to Puerto Rico, where we met partner farmers, expanded our understanding of regenerative practices in a tropical climate, and gained insight into the challenges and opportunities Puerto Rican farmers face as a U.S. territory vulnerable to extreme weather.
