Harper Deer Creek Farm

Chattahoochee Hills, GA

Low-interest bridge loan funded June 2025

Harper Deer Creek Farm was founded in 2020 on Merlon Harper's 9-acre family home in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. Supported by a long-term lease through The Conservation Fund's Working Farms Fund, Deer creek expanded to 64 acres in 2024, where they have planted an additional two acres of blueberry bushes alongside seasonal vegetable production.

Through its presence at two weekly farmers markets, CSA program, and wholesale partnerships, Deer Creek plays an active role in strengthening the regional food system and ensuring local access to fresh, sustainable produce. Deeply rooted in community, the farm participates in food access programs like WIC and SNAP/EBT, and offers educational classes in perennial fruit production, seed starting, and baking to empower both youth and adults.

In Spring of 2025, Deer Creek was awarded an NRCS reimbursable cost-share contract to support 100% of the cost to purchase and install a new well, irrigation system, and high tunnel. A low-interest loan from Foodshed Capital allowed them to make these up-front purchases ahead of reimbursement.
