Big Table Farm

Beaver Falls, PA

Low interest bridge loan funded August 2022

Since 2020, Big Table Farm has stuck to its mission of ensuring every dinner table in Beaver Falls has organic seasonal vegetables. Operation owner David Slebodnik runs the farm across two properties totaling the cultivation area to 1/3 acres. His distribution channels include a CSA program as well as select restaurant sales. After years of working on community farms and participating in conversations surrounding the structure of present-day food systems, David discovered a way to alter his local food economy. The farm is currently working with the county to establish a Saturday farmer's market in Beaver Falls, of which Big Table Farm will be an inaugural vendor. This opportunity will allow the farm an avenue to accept SNAP/EBT payments and increase food access. Foodshed Captial has offered Big Table Farm a low-interest bridge loan that will front the cost of scaling up David's operation until he receives reimbursement from his Pennsylvania Farm Vitality Grant and Agriculture Infrastructure Grant. With this capital, David will purchase a heated propagation greenhouse, further infrastructure and soil building projects, and expand his CSA and restaurant sales.
