Jen Naylor has been filling bellies at central Virginia farmer's markets for years, and is well-known for her mouthwatering Korean cuisine crafted with organically grown and foraged ingredients from her operation, Sussex Farm. Now Foodshed Capital is supporting her next chapter with a low-interest loan to open Umma’s, a brick-and-mortar restaurant in downtown Charlottesville in partnership with her daughter, a professional chef. Their FoodCap loan, provided in part by funding from the Virginia Small Business Resiliency Fund, will help them remodel their space, outfit the kitchen, and cover operating costs as they prepare to open their doors. Jen says, “Having the flexibility to be able to pay back as we flourish is a great comfort.”
